La ágata musgo es una variedad de calcedonia (SiO₂ microcristalino) que se distingue por sus inclusiones dendríticas —generalmente óxidos de manganeso, hierro o clorita— que generan patrones internos similares a musgos, ramas o filamentos vegetales. A diferencia de las ágatas bandeadas, la ágata musgo no presenta capas concéntricas regulares, sino un fondo translúcido o lechoso atravesado por estas formaciones internas.
