La combinación de amazonita con cuarzo ahumado es poco común y altamente valorada por su contraste natural. La amazonita (variedad de feldespato potásico) tiene una dureza de entre 6,0 y 6,5 en la escala de Mohs, con clivaje perfecto que puede dividirse con cuidado, mientras que el cuarzo ahumado, con dureza 7, aporta estabilidad y matices neutros.
